Vehicle Fitting Operations IMI Diploma Level 2 at Boston College
This course includes the full range of routine vehicle fitting procedures. It provides essential knowledge and skills for Vehicle Fitters working on a wide range of vehicles in the Automotive industry.
The course provides you with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of some of the following:
- Inspecting, repairing and replacing high performance light vehicle tyres
- Inspecting repairing and replacing light vehicle charging systems
- Inspecting and replacing light vehicle exhaust components, suspension dampers, vehicle batteries and braking systems (including ABS)
Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths (dependent on current GCSE grade) are a compulsory element of the course.
During the course you will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, agreeing customer vehicle needs and other skills associated with working in a garage.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in work experience, trips and listen to guest speakers organised though the College's Enterprise Zone.
GCSE grade D or above in Maths (New GCSE grade - 3 or above) and a further 2 GCSEs grades D or above (New GCSE grade - 3 or above) in English and 1 other academic subject, preferably a science bases subject. You will also need to have successfully completed
a Level 1 Motor Vehicle course or equivalent.
Satisfactory school reference and a good attendance report will also be taking into consideration.
This course is 60% practical and 40% theory. You will be assessed by online exams, individual portfolio and practical assessments.
Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress to the Motor Vehicle Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair IMI Diploma Level 2, or gaining employment on the Apprenticeship program.
