Activity Leadership - Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship at East Surrey College

Course description

The Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership is designed for those who wish to gain a broad, but solid foundation to allow them to follow a career in the activity leading. Careers may include fitness leaders, coaches and activity leaders.

Course content

Topics covered include: expeditions, planning sessions, delivering and evaluating sessions, teamwork, leadership, setting up and taking down equipment and checking equipment.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for an Apprenticeship but you must be in paid work for a minimum of 30 hours per week. It is essential you have the right mind-set for working full time and studying at the same time. Having a can-do attitude, being flexible and reliable are also important. You must also be able to communicate effectively with others.


Practical on-the-job training with knowledge based assignments. End of unit tests for Maths and English Functional Skills.

Financial information

If you are under 19 on 31/08/2014, tuition is free. If you are 19 or over please call our Employer Services team for advice and guidance on funding and eligibility.

Future opportunities

This course can lead on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Outdoor Pathways or the Level 3 Teaching and Learning PE and School Sport or a career in instructing sport and physical activities.
