Course description

You will focus on building knowledge of core microeconomic, macroeconomic and business concepts and applying them to business contexts and evidence relating to the macroeconomic environment. You will apply your knowledge and understanding to familiar and unfamiliar contexts in the assessment and demonstrate an awareness of current economic events and policies.

The A Level will be structured into four themes:

  1. Markets, consumers and firms where you will explore the way in which consumers make choices and entrepreneurs create desirable products.
  2. The wider economic environment which helps you to explore how firms can become more competitive.
  3. The global economy which has the international economic environment as its focus.
  4. Making markets work which considers degrees of competition within markets and encourages you to apply your understanding as to how governments may improve the functioning of markets and the economy.
