Music A Level *FEES PAYABLE* at Padworth College
Music is a synthesis of logic and imagination. Based on a firm foundation of musical knowledge you can interpret and appraise, create compositions and perform which will satisfy you and inspire others. This is a stimulating course which will guide you through the Western Classical Tradition, detailed analysis of a Set Work and a Historical Study of either Pop, Jazz and Blues, Musical Theatre, Choral and Chamber Music, Song , Programme Music , Music for Screen , Music and Belief, Music for the Stage, Post-1945 Popular Music, music evolution, forms, depending on your area of study.
Two performances of at least grade 5 standard
Two compositions relating to a specific area of study.
What you need to know
To be successful in A Level Music, we expect you to be able to demonstrate a technical and performance ability and show a commitment to study different styles of music.
All A Level Music students should be prepared to:
Keep a glossary of key terminology which is updated each week.
Practice technical exercises outside class time.
Rehearse performance pieces outside class time.
Carry out research into two areas of study and the key practitioners from those areas.
Listen to a wide range of music from a variety of genres.
