Engineering Maintenance Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at City College Plymouth

Course description

If you spent much of your childhood making - and breaking! - things, perhaps you had the early beginnings of an Engineer in the making. Engineering is an extremely broad field that will allow you to pursue a carrer in a variety of sectors. Complex machinery is needed throughout the UK, and indeed the world, and requires a team of dedicated Engineers to design, built and then maintain it. Follow a career path as a Maintenance Engineer and you could find yourself working on everything from simple machinery to complex systems for prestigious manufacturers. Maintenance Engineers can choose to follow either an electrical or mechanical engineering path. At City College Plymouth, we'll take your natural talent and attention to details and match you with an employer to help you earn while you learn, gaining valuable real-life experience and formal qulaifications to give you a competitive edge in the industry. The Advanced Apprenticeship is perfect for those who have completed the Intermediate Apprenticeship and are looking to build a further knowledge based and increase their qualifications. We'll take the skills you already have and help you further develop them as we delve into more complex aspects of Engineering Maintenance. 

Course content

The Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework will include:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma - completed at work with the help of a College assessor
  • Level 3 Technical Diploma - completed at College with various tutors
  • Functional Skills for maths, English and ICT level 2 - completed at College
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) - completed at work alongside the NVQ3
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) - completed at work and College.

Entry requirements

You must have completed a level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in order to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Assessment

There will be a mixture of online, written and practical assessments. 

Future opportunities

On successful completion you may progress to a higher level Apprenticeship or a Higher National Certificate at the College.
