A Level Drama at King Edward VI College, Nuneaton

Course description

The qualification is divided into two units: 1: Exploration of Drama and Theatre which requires the analysis of two play texts (classical and contemporary) through explorationand study to gain an understanding of how plays are structured and interpreted. 2: Theatre Text in Performance requires the understanding and experience gained in Unit 1 to be applied in a performance context. You will do either a monologue or a duologue of your choice and a group piece chosen by the teacher. Unit 2 is worth 60% and Unit 1 is worth 40%.3: All teaching staff in the Performing Arts department have worked in the industry and provide a realistic learning experience in addition you will be learn through Professional Practice, Master Classes and visiting industry professionals and theatre trips.

You will extend your ability to create drama and theatre, either in a performing or production role.You will also be required to write about drama and to develop your powers of analysis to become an informed critic. The course will involve taking part in drama productions, as well as studying plays, drama practitioners and playwrights.
