This qualification can help you become a chef or progress to a more senior chef’s role.

Course content

- Introduction to the catering and hospitality industry
- Food safety in catering
- Prepare and cook food by boiling, poaching and steaming
- Prepare and cook food by baking, roasting and grilling
- Prepare and cook food by deep and shallow frying
- Investigate the catering and hospitality industry
- Healthier foods and special diets
- Prepare and cook meat and offal
- Prepare and cook desserts and puddings
- Practical craft assessments (mini and synoptic tests)

Entry requirements

- 3 GCSE’s at Grade D or equivalent
- Record of Achievement showing excellent attendance and punctuality
- Total commitment, enthusiasm and motivation
- A personal interview
