Horse Care BTEC Level 2 at Bishop Burton College

Course description

This programme has been developed for ambitious students wishing to follow a career within the equine industry. The course provides an excellent opportunity to develop a sound knowledge and understanding in horse care and riding and enables learners to develop practical skills alongside valuable work experience.

Course content

  • Feeding and watering
  • Riding horses on the flat and over fences
  • Tack and clothing
  • Horse handling
  • Horse biology
  • Work experience and employability skills
  • English and Maths, as required.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D or 3 or equivalent, preferably including Science, English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered. You must also demonstrate a suitable level of riding ability. Applicants will be asked to undertake a practical riding assessment.
