Warehousing and Storage Advanced Apprenticeship at Northampton College

Course description

Providing recognition of the skills and knowledge needed to work in or develop a career in warehousing, including operating equipment and safety at work, processing orders, team leadership and managing the receipt and dispatch of goods. These qualifications recognise the skills and competencies required of staff in the warehouse and storage workplace. These qualifications are for students currently working in the sector and also available to those who do not currently work in the industry but would like to gain some of the skills needed. Level 3 is ideal if you are working as a Team Leader within a warehouse operation, in addition to your normal warehouse operation activities. This could form part of an apprenticeship. To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Warehousing and Storage, learners must achieve a total of 40 credits from a range of mandatory and optional units across five groups, which include: - Supervise the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods (mandatory) - Check stock levels and stock records (group 1) - Inducting new colleagues into a logistics operation (group 2) - Arrange the transport of goods using multiple transport modes (group 3) - Optimise the use of logistics resources (group 4) - Manage the traffic office (group 5). The apprenticeship also includes: - Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2 (if student does not already hold an equivalent) - Employees Rights and Responsibilities - Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Course content

Level 3 is ideal if you are working as a Team Leader within a warehouse operation.

Entry requirements

You must be in relevant employment to start an Apprenticeship. Achieve a minimum of 50% in Level 2 Diagnostics in English and Mathematics.


The Course is assessed through building a portfolio of evidence which includes observation of workplace activity by your assessor. The Functional Skills are assessed through examinations
