Biology A Level (OCR) at The High School for Girls

Course description

Biology is an exciting, challenging and rewarding subject to study. Not only do students learn about the body, plants and ecology, but they will be kept up-to-date with the latest developments in gene and biotechnology. Students have two enthusiastic Biology teachers who cover the specification between them. They explain topics using animations, models, microscopy, dissections, role-plays and DVDs. Students are expected to be highly motivated and able to learn independently, for example by pre-learning some material or preparing presentations on a specific topic. Students’ learning and understanding is tested using end-of-topic tests, past exam questions, revision activities and practical assessments. Excellent preparation is provided for future careers in medicine, veterinary science and dentistry.
