Electrical Installations (Buildings & Structures) Level 2 Diploma at West Herts College
This qualification is a stepping stone, blending theory and practical skills, setting you on your way to becoming a fully qualified electrician. This course will help you to learn, develop and practice the key skills required for a range of careers in the electrotechnology industry.
The focus is on an all-round understanding of the electrical trade, so you’ll take a mix of practical and theory lessons – gaining a range of experiences and skills to prepare you for working life.

Electrical installation theory/technology
Practical installation competencies
As well as working towards your Electrical Installation Certificate you’ll be supported to develop your English and maths skills.
You’ll be studying in our specialist workshops at Kings Langley campus, learning from tutors with years of professional experience.
Professional experience on site with an employer is also key to success. All West Herts College students take GAP work placements but we’ll also encourage you to find additional opportunities locally with employers.
3 GCSEs (A*–D) including English, maths and science. You will be invited to a course introduction meeting which will include a range of relevant assessments.
Successful students can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures), NVQ in Electrical Installation part time. Possible careers include areas of electrical installation, including alarms, maintenance, heating and ventilation.
