Geography at Heartlands Academy

Course description

Geography is the study of physical processes and the human activities that alter the Earths Surface. The A Level course consists of both Physical Geography (e.g. Weather & Climate, Coasts, Biogeography & Natural Hazards) and Human Geography (e.g. Population, Settlemenets, Industry & development). The two year course involves key skills e.g. map reading, data response, ICT, problem solving, sustainable decision making, perfect written communication, independent learning and organisational skills. Study methods include: outdoor fieldwork, research & investigations, enquiry questions; all of which are formally assessed by written examination papers. A-Level Geography is a fantastic academic qualification, and will contribute to further study at university. Possible career paths include: enviromental work, media, tourism and careers involving travel in any form.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of five A* - C grade GCSE's.
  • At least B grade in English GCSE.
