Photography at The New Sixth Bath
The course offers considerable scope for students to develop their photography skills and competence in digital media. Personal assignments stretch students to respond to different situations and life experiences. The work is largely digitally based. A number of visits are made throughout the year to both local and national exhibitions and to media studios.
The AS is studied in the first year. It forms 50% of the assessment weighting of the full A level. AS can be taken as a stand-alone specification, or as part of the full A Level course.
Unit 1: Coursework portfolio of personal work.
Unit 2: Controlled assignment taken over an extended period.
During the second year of study the assessment is divided into a further two units.
Unit 3: Personal investigation, including a sustained piece of writing of 1000 3000 words.
Unit 4: Controlled assignment set by the examination board.
Many will have taken Art GCSE and achieved at least a grade B, or have followed a personal interest inphotography.
