Starting with the basics and taking you through the range of services and roles in health, social care and child care the course will help you to understand
more about the skills needed to work in this sector.
Roles that you could interest you after completing the course and going on to study further include; care assistant, social worker, child minder, educational
assistant or you could even go on to study further progressing onto apprenticeships or the certificate for the children and young people’s workforce.
Course content
This course is the first step that you will take to work in the childcare or health and social care sector and will provide a sound basis for you to
progress onto further study within this area. You will be studying a National Skills Academy award in Social Care winning course, which demonstrates the excellent training that will be provided to you to help you progress.
Taking you through the basics in order to understand the range of services and roles in health and social care and childcare, this course will help you
to understand the principles and values in the sector.
You will also be taught the essentials in order to work in the health care sector including; awareness of protection and safeguarding, awareness of equality
and inclusion, awareness of health and safety and awareness of person-centred support.
You will also have an introduction to communication as well as receiving support with your personal and social development.
Entry requirements
You must have:
3 GCSEs or equivalent
A satisfactory interview
Successful assessment activities including literacy and numeracy.
Assessment
You will be assessed via course work, case studies, posters and leaflets.
Future opportunities
You could go onto study:
- Level 2 Early Years with licence to practice
- Level 2 Health and Social Care with licence to practice
- An Apprenticeship in Childcare or Social Care
