Applied Art and Design (Double Award) (A2) at Cheslyn Hay Sport & Community High School
Twelve units of work, this includes a general foundation for unit one. Then progressing onto specialist areas of study, fine art, drawing, painting, textiles and fashion, photography, ceramics and sculpture. Students will work across all units during the two years. This provides a more in-depth meaning and understanding linked to the vocational experiences.
A grade B or above in GCSE Art and Design is required.
This course will give you the qualifications you need to progress direct onto higher education at degree level, apprenticeships and work. Many previous students have continued to achieve success in a wide variety of careers such as design, including fashion, textiles, footwear, sportswear, furnishings, the ceramics industry, surface pattern design and making, community and art projects, gallery work, curators, architects, graphic designers, product design, interior design, photographic industry, teaching and journalism.You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education, BTEC Higher Nationals or NVQ Levels 3 and 4 in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior or Fashion Designer. The course will also encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
