IT (Computer Science) BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Strode College

Course description

This one year course is designed to develop your skills in the use of the latest information and communication technology (ICT). You will also develop an understanding of ICT and its role in society along with learning more technical aspects of computing such as hardware, networking and programming, gaming and media technologies.

The course uses industry standard software to ensure that you develop experience and skills that are relevant to IT and business related industries.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades E or above or equivalent, such as NVQ Level 1 plus a GCSE grade E or above.


You will be assessed continually and must submit a portfolio of assignments for each unit studied. Many assignments are of a practical nature and may involve project work. There will also be two external exams. Pearson Exam Board.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress to a Level 3 qualification such as the Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT or onto an A Level programme. You could additionally progress onto a Level 2 IT Apprenticeship.
