Pathway to Employment at Bicton College

Course description

This course is designed to help young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to get into paid work.

P2E is a supported internship course that will help you to develop the skills you need to be successful in employment. You’ll spend the first part of the year in the unique setting at Bicton College, developing your skills in a range of different practical learning environments and growing your understanding of real working environments. Qualified and experienced Job Coaches will work with you to help you to identify suitable work placements and, once in your placement, you’ll be supported to learn and develop your skills on the job. 

You’ll continue to attend College one day each week to follow your personalised learning programme. This will include a qualification in employability and sessions to help you further improve your English and maths skills. You will also be given the opportunity to undertake additional qualifications that might be necessary in your chosen career.

  • Additional qualifications e.g. food hygiene

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry qualifications although you must be between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age at the start of the course. P2E is a personalised programme that is designed to support you to get you to your desired destination of paid work of 16 hours or more a week. What you really need is bags of enthusiasm and a genuine desire to work. You will need to have an excellent record of attendance and behaviour and to provide satisfactory references.
