A Level Art & Design - Fine Art at Grindon Hall Christian School - GHCS
Students will explore a wide range of media whilst studying initially natural forms. In Y12, students will prepare for an externally set task which will involve working towards a given brief. Y13 students will produce a dissertation on a brief of their own choice and complete a 15hour externally set task set by AQA.
Topics taught in this two year A Level course are:
1. An initial portfolio of work which is wide ranging.
2. An exam lead study
3. An in-depth written dissertation on a chosen topic worth 60% of A level
4. An exam led study culminating in a 15 hour exam worth 40% of A level
Minimum entry requirements are in line with the School’s admission policy, but a grade B at GCSE Art is recommended.
Assessment takes place at the end of each year. You will sit two exams in total.

Art and Design is a very popular choice for students at university. The majority of universities offer combined degrees with other creative elements such as film studies and digital animation.
