Activity Leadership Intermediate Apprenticeship at West Herts College
Aimed at people employed in a coaching role within a school, club or leisure organisation who want to gain the knowledge and skills to plan, deliver, lead and evaluate a series of activities. Apprentices can choose from options in outdoors, exercise and fitness or coaching.
This apprenticeship is aimed at people employed in a coaching role within a school, club or leisure organisation and wish to gain both the knowledge and skills to effectively plan, deliver/lead and evaluate a series of activities. The activities that learners choose could include outdoors, exercise and fitness, and coaching.
Examples of subject areas include: Contribute to the work of your team Promote safety in the sport and activity environment Prepare activities within a session Lead activities within a session Conclude and review a session Set up, take down and store equipment HSE First Aid at Work
The qualification is achieved by gaining practical experience onsite and attending College to acquire the necessary theory, underpinning knowledge and practical training. You will also be required to achieve functional skills at Level 2 in English, maths and ICT and complete a workbook relating to employment rights and responsibilities.
Employment at a suitable level - most employers ask for GCSEs in English and maths, but may have additional specific requirements.
On completion of your course you will be able to join an advanced apprenticeship in activity leadership or leisure management or join the industry in a related career.
