A2 Level Media Studies at Nether Stowe School

Course description

The WJEC A level Media Studies is a 2 year course that aims to provide students with the understanding, dkills and knowledge concerning the Media Sector such as TV, Video game industry, Radio, Journalism, Mobile applications, Internet use, Web Design and Professional Photography.

Course content

The course contains both theoretical elements and focus on practical activities.  The emphasis on practical and vocational tasks engages and motivates students.  Students will have to research, plan and finally create and evaluate their own media products.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 or above in English Language

Assessment

There will be both internally and externally assessed modules and exams.  Part of the final grade is taken from exams, part from coursework.

Future opportunities

Whether it is working in the TV or film industries as a cameraman or a journalist, designing computer games or web pages or applications for mobile phones, people with a Media Studies qualification are welcome in many careers
