Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design & Media (Art & Design) at West Kent College

Course description

You will have the opportunity to develop and expand your creative arts skills whilst improving your English and maths.

A variety of practical creative projects will give you experience of painting, drawing, print-making, mixed media, 3D techniques, photography and time based media. This will help you to develop the core skills for your progression to Level 2, alongside gaining qualifications in English and maths.

At the end of your course, your work will be exhibited in the College end of year show.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D-G/3-1, including English and maths at minimum Grade E/2.

You will be required to attend an interview with your portfolio of art and design work to demonstrate your practical and creative skills. You also need a positive recommendation or reference from your school/tutor.

Future opportunities

If you achieve a Merit or above you could progress on to a higher level course in a creative subject, such as the Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or Creative Media Production, as long as you meet all other course entry requirements.
