Develop your ability to analyse, evaluate and make connections between one Shakespearean play, one pre 1900 drama text and one pre 1900 poetry text.

Component 2 – Comparative & Contextual study (Exam 40% – 2 hours and 30 minutes)
Explores one topic in which at least two whole texts are studied in close detail.]
Section one – Close reading of the two texts
Section two – Comparative essay
Component 3 – Content of Literature post-1900 (Exam 20% – 2 hours and 30 minutes)
Helps to develop your appreciation of how writers shape meaning, and how writing can be interpreted in different ways.
6+ GCSEs A*–C including a B in English literature or language.
Besides journalism, teaching, publishing and advertising, English literature is a recognised preparation for careers in administration and management in any type of industry. It is also regarded as excellent preparation for those who intend to go to university.
