Professional Cookery Advanced Apprenticeships - Level 3 at John Ruskin College

Course description

This Apprenticeship is for those who want to progress their culinary skills to a higher professional level. You will develop your technical skills and knowledge via a technical certificate to an advanced level. This will be achieved by producing a range of complex dishes and develop your supervisory skills to meet the highest standards required in this professional industry.

Course content

You will complete a portfolio that demonstrates your understanding and occupational competency and shows your employer what you can do. You will also be visited and assessed in the workplace.

Entry requirements

You will usually have completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship.

You need 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English. You will need to be in full time employment.


You will have a dedicated Trainer/Assessor who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace at least every 8 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

Financial information

If you are aged 16 to 18 when you start your Apprenticeship Programme, there is no charge to you or your employer as this is fully funded by the government.

Other costs would include the purchase of your personal kit and uniform and any working resources.
