ICT Cambridge Technicals (Level 3) at Queensbury School

Course description

IT is at the heart of everyday life, at work, home and in our leisure time: from computer graphics and control systems, to communications and problem solving, IT has an ever-increasing role to play.  The Cambridge Technicals in IT provide students with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that transfer into the modern workplace.

Course content

Year 12 - you will complete one mandatory unit and one optional unit.

Year 13 - you will complete the second mandatory unit and one optional unit.

Mandatory Units:

Unit 1 - Communication and employability skills for IT - This unit will equip students to use a variety of communication skills, and provide them with an undersatnding of the skills an employer wants and how to adap the message to their audience.

Unit 2 - Information Systems - This unit demonstrates the types of information held in the workplace, how it can be used to gain a competitive edge and how it must comply with legislation.

  • Developing computer games
  • Website production
  • Computer animation
  • Computer game platforms and technologies
  • 2Danimation production
  • Interactive media authoring
  • Web animation for interactive media
  • Spreadsheet modelling

Entry requirements

You need to have passed your ICT Option course at KS4 - OCR Nationals at Grade C or above, CiDA at Grade C or above.


The Cambridge Technicals are a vocational qualification and are assessed by coursework only; there are no exams.
