Course description

Why should I come to Runshaw to study Public Services?

The course is delivered through a mixture of practical, theoretical and work-related tasks and activities where you get the chance to study many different aspects of all the public services, meet real life staff and officers, ask questions and get the advice and support you need to be able to join them.

Students will receive an introduction to Public Services, and must show an interest in the work of the Public Services over the one-year course. This is ideal for creating a base to progress to employment or onto further study at Level 3.

What will I study?

The subjects you will study are interesting and fun to enable you to really excel in both academic and practical ability.

As part of the course, you will also study English and Maths to develop your employability skills.

Entry requirements

For access to our Level 2 courses, our entry requirements are 4 x Grade 3 equivalent (4 x Grade 3 or D). This should include Maths or English (Language or Literature) at Grade 3, and no less than a 2 in the other.

Public Services does not have any specific additional requirements.

Assessment

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed continually throughout the year by coursework, and there will also be an exam for Unit 1.

Financial information

No course fees are applicable for 16-18 year old learners who meet funding regulations.

Successful completion of this course may lead to progression onto a Level 3 course, employment or training.
