This course covers the basics of Carpentry & Joinery. You will study safe working practices, building methods and produce basic woodworking joints. You will also learn how to maintain and use hand tools and how to use portable power tools.

Entry requirements

You will need a range of GCSE grades A* - E

Assessment

This course is assessed by practical work and a portfolio of evidence.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of the programme and gaining employment within the carpentry or joinery industry you can then progress onto an apprenticeship. Alternatively you can progress onto the Level 2 Bench Joinery or Site Carpentry Diploma.
