Drama & Theatre Studies A-Level at Worthing College

Course description

This course is designed for students who enjoy reading and watching plays and taking part in drama, as a performer.

Course content

In the first year, you study one set play and two extracts from related texts. You will participate in two performances - one devised and one text-based.

In the second Year, you study at least 3 set plays alongisde a number of other related text extracts, and participate in two performances - one devised and one text based.

 

Entry requirements

You need a minimum of five GCSEs at A*- C grade.

Assessment

There are exams for the written units which are externally set and are marked  and are worth 40% of the A level. The practical units are worth 60% in total and internally assessed.

You may be assessed for an AS qualification in this course at the end of your first year as a measure of your progress.

Future opportunities

Careers in acting, performing, TV, film, technical theatre, and teaching are all possible using this course as a starting point for further study and training.

This A level is also accepted as an entry requirement for a whole range of higher education courses not directly related to the performing arts.

Many people maintain a lifetime interest in performing arts and will join this course as a means of enhancing their insight and enjoyment.
