Course content

This will be of interest to students who are interested in issues
relating to Business and Commerce in the United Kingdom.
The course will enable you to develop a critical understanding
of business organisations, the markets they serve and the
environment in which they operate.
Students of Business studies will need to be dedicated
and hardworking. There will be a considerable amount of
independent study involved which must be completed to
deadline and be of a very high standard. Self-starting students
will encouraged to make accelerated progress with many
opportunities to develop this characteristic.
Some of the main business disciplines and skills will be covered
include ‘Planning and Financing a Business’, covering the issues
involved in a business start-up, such as research and planning,
as well as the factors that determine success. Students will also
develop skills in ‘Managing a Business’, which will focus on how
established businesses might improve their effectiveness by
making tactical decisions at a functional level.

Entry requirements

GCSE in Business Studies at grade C or
above is preferable but not essential


3 written papers of 2 hours each, each worth 33.3% of the A Level
