Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 2 at St Helens College

Course description

This course is suitable for those who want to establish the skills and knowledge required to launch a career as a beauty therapist.

You will have the opportunity to learn how to provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments, waxing, basic manicures and pedicures and provide advice on makeup application and facial skincare.

Course content

During this course, you will cover the following units:

  • Provide facial skincare
  • Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • Provide eyelash and brow treatments
  • Client care and communication in the beauty related industries
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments
  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Provide nail art
  • Provide salon reception duties

Entry requirements

You should have four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and maths.

English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. But don't worry, if you haven't got the desired grades, we will still have a course available for you.

Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, end of module exams and portfolio building.

Financial information

If you are a school leaver, aged 16‐18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2016), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto one of the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
  • Level 3 Diploma in Spa Therapy
  • Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technologies
  • Level 3 Diploma in Makeup Techniques

Alternatively, you may want to move into employment as a beauty receptionist, make-up consultant, sales representative or become self-employed.

Further information

As part of this programme you are required to wear a uniform. There is also a kit required to complete your assessments which can be purchased from a recommended supplier. You may be eligible for financial support to cover these costs.
