Course description

A practical course that introduces students to a variety of materials, techniques and processes used in Art, Design and Media.

Course content

This programme provides an introduction into the practical-based art and design programmes. You will explore the use of a variety of materials and processes and will be set projects in painting, drawing, textiles, 3D, photography, film & TV, animation. This course is taught using a mixture of practical studio activities, seminars, tutorials, lectures and personal study.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:

To have completed secondary education up to and including year 11 .

 

Specific Entry Requirements:

Interview with portfolio of artwork and ability to communicate ideas orally as well as visually.

Assessment

Internally assessed coursework.

Financial information

You will be required to purchase most of your art and media materials. A guidance list will be provided.

Future opportunities

A BTEC Level 1 Diploma prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or Media.

      The campus also houses a Learning Centre, Skills Development Centre, Assessment Centre, Tutorial Centre, a Copyshop and Refectory. Situated on the grounds of this campus are Dovedale Nursery and Dovedale Sports Centre.
