Sociology AS/A Level at Godalming College

Course description

Is the family in decline? Why are some groups always disadvantaged by the school system? Why are some groups labelled deviant or even criminal whilst others are not? Sociology applies critical understanding to society. It deconstructs our everyday life, and it examines our taken-for-granted assumptions using contemporary evidence and sociological theory. You will explore how institutions impact our lives, for example the family and education system, yet also deal with the understanding of small scale interactions between people.

Course assessment: Written exams.
