Introductory Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism BTEC Level 1 at Waltham Forest College

Course description

This qualification is for students who are interested in Travel and Hospitality and wish to develop their knowledge and skills in preparation for working in the Travel and Hospitality Industry.

Course content

You will study core units focussed on key transferable personal skills and subject specialist units such as:
Exploring Local Visitor attractions
Exploring Travel and Tourism in the UK
Using Websites to make Holiday choices
Delivering Customer Service in Hospitality and Tourism

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade G (1) or above including English or Maths.
A passion for travel
Assessment and interview

Assessment

All assessment is internal using a variety of methods for students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.

Future opportunities

Progression onto level 2 further study of Travel and Tourism or another subject.

      Trains run to Walthamstow Central from Liverpool Street station (a bus can then be taken to the College, see below). Wood Street station is approximately a 10-minute walk from the College.

      Tube:

      The Victoria Line ends at Walthamstow Central, which is approximately a 15-minute walk to the College. Alternatively, you can get a bus, see below.

      Bus:

      From Walthamstow Central:Bus 275 stops outside the College, 212 stops across the road from the College (Shernhall Street). Buses 97, 357, 34 or 215 stop at the 'Bell Corner' (junction of Hoe Street and Forest Road). From here, the College is approximately five-minute walk.

      From Blackhorse Road Tube Station: Bus 123 also stops outside the College on route between Tottenham and Ilford
