Personal Training NCFE Level 2/3 at Lancaster and Morecambe College
This is a one year full time course geared towards a career in the fast growing industry of fitness instruction and personal training.
The course is made up of two qualifications focusing on key areas of fitness and delivering personal training. The course is predominantly practical and is based on work related assessments and written coursework. You will study the following: • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health • Programming Personal Training for Clients • Delivering Personal Training Sessions • Applied Nutrition to a Physical Activity Programme • Client Support in Exercise and Physical Activity • Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment • Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health • Planning Gym-based Exercise • Instructing Gym-based Exercise
A key feature of this course is appropriate work experience in the fitness industry. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction OR equivalent Level 2 fitness qualification plus 2 GCSEs at grade A*-C from English, maths and science. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including course work, practical assignments, observation in a real working environment by assessors, oral questioning and written underpinning knowledge booklets, practical assessment with supporting evidence, and a portfolio of evidence. The assessments are formal and practical assessments are based on your ability to work as a fitness instructor and with clients as a personal trainer.
You will need to pay £45.00 for equipment, transport, visits plus the cost of your uniform.
The course can lead onto a career in the fast growing health and fitness industry in areas such as: • Health Clubs • Leisure/Sport Centres • Private Sports Clubs • Fitness Centres
On completion of this course you will receive an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing and an NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, which is nationally recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS), universities and colleges.
You will be expected to undertake regular home study on this course.
