Business A level at Havering Sixth Form College

Course description

You will study businesses, their behaviour, their decision-making and the environment in which they operate. Studying business has great relevance to a wide range of employment - it is all around us. It is a subject that requires an enquiring and analytical mind, an aptitude for calculating data and a keen interest in current events.

Course content

A Level Business provides students with a sound grasp of what business organisations are, the aims that they seek to achieve, how they organise themselves into different functional areas and what factors have an impact on their success.

You can expect to:

  • Develop a range of business-related skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, analysis and evaluation of business situations
  • Develop a wider knowledge of real business situations and be able to apply this to the theoretical framework underpinning the course
  • Develop effective written and numerical skills which are essential in all business organisations

Year 1

Students will study 2 themes: How to manage business activities as well as Marketing & People

Year 2

The next two themes focus on global businesses and how they make the best strategic decisions.

The assessment material is based on real business situations.
