Introduction to the Hospitality Industry Entry Level at Redbridge College
This will suit you if you are looking to enter the Hospitality industry. You have little or no previous knowledge or experience of the industry, but are keen to get your career started. You’ll learn about many aspects of the industry and gain valuable practical and teamwork skills. The qualification covers various routes, including cookery, food service and the industry as a whole.
You’ll complete projects and assignments that are based on real-life workplace situations, activities and demands of the industry. Tutors will assess skills related to all aspects of choosing, preparing, presenting and serving food and will develop an increased level of independence.
This course will cover a range of introductory topics, including:
- Customer service
- Serving food and drink
- Healthy eating
- Using kitchen equipment
- Basic food preparation
You will need to have completed Entry 2 in English and maths and have a keen interest in cooking.
You'll be taught by our highly skilled team of professionals who will pass on their years of industry knowledge and experience to you. Students will develop their skills within Rouge, our training restaurant & kitchens. You will become part of our business model that has demonstrated outstanding success results and provided individuals with exceptional work experience. You will also be able to develop your entrepreneurship skills, supporting events across the college as well as developing vital skills with our industry expert partners. You will be assessed during practical activities and complete project work through assignments.
Progression to Level 1 in the Introduction to Hospitality and Catering Industry or level 1 in Professional Cookery. This qualification may lead you to a variety of pathways in the Hospitality and Catering Industry which may include;
- Bar person
- Kitchen assistant/Porter
