Travel & Tourism BTEC at St Mark's West Essex Catholic School

Course description

Travel and Tourism is Britain’s fastest growing industry. It includes recreation, transport, travel, catering, accommodation, visitor attractions, culture, arts and heritage amongst others. You will gain an understanding of the industry and how it operates.

The programme will include group work, presentation, research and fieldwork, workshops and talks by specialists in the industry.

  •  Investigating the travel and tourism industry – Externally assessed.
  •  UK Travel & Tourism destinations.
  •  The development of Travel & Tourism in the UK.
  •  International Travel & Tourism destinations.

3 units contain a high degree of continuous assessment based on assignments, which are presented as a portfolio of evidence. There is one examination and the qualification is comparable to 2 GCSE grades A* to C.

A BTEC in Travel and Tourism prepares you for employment at or above entry level in many areas, including entertainment and leisure, travel and tourism, sport and physical recreation and accommodation catering & hospitality.

You can also progress onto a range of advanced programmes and then go on to further study at university.
