Music - AS / A level at Culford School

Course description

Prior knowledge in this subject is not essential as the courses have been designed for anyone who is capable of achieving the required standard.

It is therefore not essential to have taken GCSE music, but you should be able to operate at a level of practice and understanding equivalent to that required for one of the higher grades in GCSE Music. You should also be able to perform on an instrument at a standard roughly equivalent to a pass in a Grade 5 practical examination.

Course content

AS - 3 units - performing, developing musical ideas, listening & understanding

A2 - 3 units - specialist options, performing and composing, analysing music.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in GCSE music or equivalent
