IT Level 3 Extended Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is a qualification which offers a wide base of skills for IT Practitioners, building on knowledge gained from the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in IT programme.
This is not a course for IT Users i.e. training to use Office products, web browsing etc. as its content is for individuals who seek a career in an Information Technology profession: Computer Programmer, Web Developer, Network Administrator or Computer Technician.
The aim of this course is to prepare those who wish to embark on a career within the field of computing or, for those who prefer, to count towards entry into Higher Education (HND/BSc). 
Units typically include: Information Systems; Communication Technologies; Event Driven Programming; Database Design; Client Side Customisation of Web Pages; Developing Computer Games; Computer Game Platforms and Technologies; Mathematics for IT Practitioners; Web Server Scripting

Entry requirements

The Extended Diploma is offered to those who achieve a minimum of the Pass-Pass grading on the 90-Credit Diploma, and show satisfactory commitment to the course during their 1st year of study.


Assessment is by written coursework.
