Geography AS/A2 at Roundwood Park School

Course description

Students study a range of Physical and Human Geography topics throughout Year 12 and 13. Students sit two exams at AS level and two further exams in Year 13. There is no coursework in either year and al fieldwork undertaken in each year will relate directly to the exam content.

The following modules are studied:

  1. Global Challenges – world at risk (hazards and climate change) and going global (urbanisation, globalisation and migration).
  2. Geographical investigations – crowded coasts and rebranding places.
  1. Contested Planet – changing environmental, socio-economic and political geography.
  2. Geographical research – Tectonic activity and hazards, or consuming the rural landscape.

The fieldwork at AS and A2 is aimed at developing the skills necessary to collect, evaluate and present data, and provide valuable hands-on knowledge that is required by the exam board to answer the exam questions in units 2 and 4.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above, with B grades in relevant subjects (including English Language at grade B) for any advanced level course, including traditional A levels, Applied A levels and Advanced Vocational Awards.
