Chemistry A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

This two-year A level programme is ideal for those students wanting to pursue a career in chemistry-related areas such as medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, forensic science, biochemistry, chemical engineering and industrial chemistry. Through a variety of teaching methods that include group discussions, presentations, role plays, research and practical laboratory work you will focus on the following units of study: Chemistry in Action; Investigative and Practical Skills; Kinetics, Equilibria and Organic Chemistry; Energetics, Redox and Inorganic Chemistry; Investigative and Practical Skills. Successful students will be eligible to progress to a related undergraduate course at one of several universities across the UK.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification, including English Language, Maths and Chemistry or Dual Science at grade B or Merit.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.
