TWO modules plus Coursework.

Mechanics – Extending our understanding of forces and motion based around Isaac Newton's Laws

Elect Electrons, Waves and Photons – 20th Century Physics introduces some unusual and interesting ideas of Quantum Mechanics as well as furthering understanding of electricity and magnetism. We also take a whole new look at waves. Study some brand new concepts such as wave interference and superposition.


TWO modules plus coursework.

The Newtonian W orld - This builds on the work done in AS Mechanics and provides an essential basis for further study in Physical Sciences and Engineering. It covers topics such as collisions, circular motion, gravitational fields and thermal physics.

Fields Fields, Particles and Frontiers of Physics - This unit looks at how physics has benefited society with the discovery and development of many important ideas and equipment. Topics covered include: magnetic fields, nuclear physics, medical imaging and modelling the universe

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement for a GCE AS/A2 course is 6+ grades A*-B at GCSE or equivalent. For a student to study at GCE AS/A2 a subject that they studied at GCSE they must have achieved at least a grade B in that subject at GCSE where the subject requires previous study
