Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Hair & Beauty Sector (Hair) at Ashford College

Course description

An introduction to the hairdressing industry.

You will learn basic hairdressing and beauty skills while you develop your literacy, numeracy, speaking, listening and IT so that you can move up to a higher level qualification. This course also covers health and safety and teamwork.

Units include:

• Reception skills
• Underpinning theory
• Shampoo and style
• Basic hand care
• Basic facial care
• Plait and twist hair
• Design skills
• Work experience

You will also need to buy specialist equipment and clothing.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D-G/3-1, including English and maths at minimum Grade E/2, or have achieved a full Entry 3 or Level 1 qualification previously with the college.

Your enrolment is subject to a successful interview, references and skills assessment.

Future opportunities

Progress on to a Level 2 course in either hair design or beauty therapy.
