Childcare Level 1 at Northampton College

Course description

This course is designed to stimulate the interest and encourage your understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for a child. You will study units covering both personal development and growth of babies and young children.Units may include the following: - Communication - Principles and values - Safeguarding and protection - Creative Activities - Healthy eatingThe method of learning is through classroom based activity.After successful completion of this course you could go onto do CACHE Level 2 Certificate Introduction to Early Years Education and Care.

Course content

This course will not qualify students to work with children but does support them in preparing for training and moving towards the world of work.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade E or above including English and Mathematics.


Students will be assessed through written tasks, assignments and practical activities.

Further information

There is nothing specific required for this course, however you will require stationery, including notebook, diary, lever arch folders and pens. If you are aged 19 at the start of the course you will pay an exam fee of approximately £90 at enrolment.
