Art A Level at The Buckingham School - A Sports College

Course description

This course will develop your intellectual, imaginative and creative skills. You will work with many different and creative media to develop your experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills. A Level Art disciplines include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and alternative media.

Course content

You will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of media, including traditional and new technologies. You will visit galleries and studios and develop your knowledge of art, craft and design in contemporary and past societies.

Art and Photography work well together. Students can interlink elements of their projects and the assessment objectives are the same for both subjects. Please be aware that both Art and Photography are coursework based and require a lot of time and dedication.

Entry requirements

When studying A level Art students are expected to utilise their free time effectively to ensure all work is completed. We have a sixth form area within the department for students to use during their study periods.

Students are expected to meet deadlines and ensure the work they produce is to a consistently high standard.

For A level Art we require students to have achieved at least a C grade for Art GCSE.

Students that do well in Art tend to be creative and generally artistic.
