Modern foreign languages: French, German and Spanish *FEES PAYABLE* at Sackville School

Course description

The course is based on topics such as communication and media, advertising, the arts, sports,
leisure and entertainment, education and job opportunities. Groups are small and therefore the
content of the topics is tailor made to individual interests within the group. Groups have 1 or 2
teachers and regular sessions with the foreign language assistant where possible. Lessons also
include frequent use of the internet and modern technology. Year 12 German students have the
opportunity to take part in a study visit to an engineering college in Hamburg. Work experience in
French, German or Spanish speaking countries can also be organised.
The exam specification:
AS Unit 1: speaking: role play and topic discussion - conducted by the teacher
Unit 2: listening, reading and writing (2 hour 15 minutes exam)
A2 Unit 3: speaking: discussion of an article and topic discussion - conducted by teacher
Unit 4: listening, reading and writing (2 hour 30 minutes)

Entry requirements

Grade B or equivalent in French, German or Spanish at GCSE
