Care Level 2 at Newbury College

Course description

This one year course will give students a recognised qualification, knowledge, skills and understanding for employment in a health and socail care environment or the childcare sector.

 

 

The units will include human lifespan development, effective communication, and equality and diversity. The course will allow you to develop your interest in child care and introduce you to topics such as child development . Students will participate in work placememnts within a variety of care settings.

Students who have not yet achieved Grade C in GCSE Maths and English , will study Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English as part of their course.Please see pages 4 & 5 for details.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE passes at grade D or above, preferably including English and Maths OR equivalent vocational qulaification at merit grade and Functional Skills Maths and English, preferably at Level 1.

Assessment

The course is continually assessed by course work, assignments, practicals, portfolios of evidence, and externally marked assessments.

Future opportunities

L3 Diploma in Health and Socail care , Level 3 Diploma in Childcare, Employment or an Apprenticeship.
