WJEC AS  Media Studies

Course content

Unit 1 MS1 - exam unit: Media Representations and Responses

Three compulsory questions, including one question on unseen audio-visual or print-based material (interactive media will be presented as print-based), one question appling knowledge and understanding of the key concepts of representation, one question applying knowledge and understanding of the key concept of audience (40, 40 and 30%).

Unit 2 MS2 - coursework: Media Production Processes

Three components: one preproduction (20); one production which develops from the preproduction (40); and one report on the production process (40). Group work permitted for the audio-visual productions only.

Skills: Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, iMovie Microsoft Publisher, Digital Photography

Entry requirements

Grade C or above in  English Language.

No previous study of Media Studies is necessary but if GCSE Media Studies has been studied a grade C or equivalent is needed.

Assessment

Coursework: 50% (25% of A level)

Exam: 50% (25% of A level)
