Photography (Level 2) at Shaftesbury School

Course description

This Photography course gives students the opportunity to engage in learning that is relevant to them and which will provide opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques in photography and the personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. To achieve the whole qualification, students must successfully complete 30 credits from units including Photographic Techniques and Applications, Working with Photography Briefs, Studio Photography, Experimental Photography, Creative Camera Techniques and Location Photography. Possible optional units include: Vocational Contexts in Art and Design, Working with Moving Image Briefs, Working with Digital Art and Design Briefs, Animation Techniques.An enthusiasm and interest in photography is necessary. Students will also be required to have their own DSLR camera. There is also an interview with the Head of Department whereby students bring examples of photography for discussion and review. Advice on appropriate DSLR cameras can be sought from Mrs Watkins.

Entry requirements

Grade E or above in GCSE Maths, English and three other subjects.
