Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 1 Diploma at West Herts College

Course description

An introduction to the world of travel and tourism. Develop strong communication skills and learn about the world of career opportunities available in this sector. There will be trips and specialist talks such as air crew and aircrash investigation workshops to further develop your knowledge.

Course content

You can look forward to a range of interesting subjects including:

  • Displaying travel and tourism products

  • Planning trips to attractions

  • UK travel destinations

  • Recommending a package holiday

  • The role of cabin crew

  • The role of an overseas representative

  • Planning an event

  • Jobs in travel and tourism

Alongside your course you will study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop skills employers are looking for.

Entry requirements

If you're passionate about travelling, have good people skills and the will to succeed, this is the course for you. You will be required to attend a course introduction meeting.

Future opportunities

You can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or Aviation. With further training you can look for jobs in travel agencies, airline customer services, hospitality and tour operators.
