Business Administration Diploma Level 3 at Hugh Baird College

Course description

This course is designed to prepare you for employment with responsibility within an office environment. The course is aimed at those who have good basic office skills and wish to develop their competence to a high level. You will be expected to develop office systems and procedures, to develop effective working relationships with managers, colleagues and team members, to display a high standard of computer skills and to research and present information.

You will be required to partake in regular work experience placements in the Business Admin Centre at Hugh Baird College, in order to develop your skills and be assessed.

Course content

  • Coach others in basic office skills
  • Develop good interpersonal skills
  • Carry out supervisory duties within a realistic working environment
  • Take part in personal assistant duties in and around the College one day per week

Entry requirements

  • Business Administration - Level 2


Assessment is ongoing and you will complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that you are competent in all areas required at this level. In addition, you will study word and text processing to develop you computer skills to a high standard. This part of the course will be assessed by two short external examinations.

Further information

If you are aged 16-19, this qualification will form a substantial part of your study programme. The study programme has been designed to ensure that young people are fully equipped and ready to move on to the world of work or higher level courses. In addition to your main qualification, will you also get the opportunity to undertake relevant and CV bolstering work experience out in your chosen industry. You will also be supported through maths and English qualifications.

      The Merseyrail Bootle Oriel Road station is only a two minute walk from the College campus. This station is on the Northern Line and offers easy access to the College from Liverpool, Crosby, Formby, Southport and other areas.

      The closest motorway junctions are the M58 1a/ M57 Junction 7 – 3.7 miles (6km). Then follow the A59 towards Liverpool for approximately ten minutes, turning right onto the A5058 at the first roundabout, which leads onto Balliol Road.
